We are seeking group volunteers (5-8 people) to help our Farmer and apprentices harvest our crops for our weekly CSA (community supported agriculture). Join us for a day of effortless inclusion and work side by side with our Ready! Set! Grow! program apprentices. Many of our apprentices have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, however they are the experts here on the Farm. They will teach you, with the help of our farmer, how to harvest, plant, and maintain healthy crops. Did I mention we farm in accordance to organic guidelines? By choosing to volunteer here, you are not only gaining farming knowledge, you are assisting in building new work skills for our apprentices. They are learning exactly how to interact with new people in the workplace, how to manage and train someone new, and they are teaching you what they know.
Join us at 9am on your chosen day for a quick tour and backstory of Homesteads for Hope, and then at 9am the workday begins. Volunteer shifts are from 9am-12pm. At 12pm please feel free to join the apprentices for lunch sitting by the beautiful canal. All volunteers have the option to stay until 3pm if they so choose.
We have a café/farm store on property for you to checkout for lunch or after your volunteer day is done.
Volunteering at Homesteads for Hope is more than helping a farmer out, you are witnessing our apprentices put the phrase "different, not less" into action.
