Who We Are
The Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society is Charted by the University of the State of New York Education Department. Our mission is to restore and preserve the 1822 Tower and the 1862 Keeper's House which are a National Landmark. We have a 20-year lease with the County of Monroe to operate as a museum, give tours and restore the site so it will serve as a historic center for residents and visitors to the area.
What We Do
We are an all-volunteer organization and we restore & preserve this National Landmark. We give tours of the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse and grounds.
Volunteers always appreciated! Needed everyday of the week for archival and collections care, gift shop inventory, Facebook and social media as well as membership. Check out our Needs below if interested.
We need tour guides for the Tower and the keeper's house where exhibit change yearly. Volunteers assist with tours, sales in our gift shop, simple interior and exterior maintenance, and other tasks.
