Volunteers are critical to Foodlink's mission to end hunger and build healthier communities. For Day of Caring 2023, we are currently looking for volunteers to assist with cleaning tasks in our Community Kitchen and around our Foodlink grounds. Volunteer tasks will include, but are not limited too:
- Dusting/Cleaning food racking and coolers
- Floor Scrubbing and loading dock clean up
- Garbage pick up and beautification around Foodlink grounds
Physical Intensity: Volunteer tasks are considered high in physical intensity. Projects will include frequent walking, standing, and lifting food boxes up to 25-50lbs.
What to Bring/Wear: Your Energy! Volunteers should reframe from wearing torn/dirty clothing, long-painted finger nails, fake lashes, open toed-shoes and jewelry(with the exception of a wedding ring). Piercings and open wounds should be covered at all times. It is also encouraged that you bring a light sweater/jacket and specifically items you do not mind getting dirty. Water bottles and lunch will be provided.
Skilled-Based Volunteers: If you would like to utilize a trade or professional painting skill with our spring cleaning projects, please contact our Volunteer Programs Manager, Jessica Lockett, directly at 585-413-4094 or jlockett@foodlinkny.org.
Arrival & Parking: This volunteer project is located at 1999 Mount Read Blvd, Rochester NY 14615. Please park in the back parking lot around the building where there will be a green awning. Volunteers must arrive on time for their volunteer shift so that they are properly screened and trained.
