Parenting Village is seeking an individual from the Rochester area to join our Advisory Board as our Finance Chair.
A member of the Parenting Village Advisory Board is responsible for ensuring that Parenting Village fulfills its mission by planning for the future, monitoring current operations, and evaluating the organization. A Board Member must also fulfill the fiduciary responsibilities of the board of directors and make decisions that protect the organization, the community it serves, and the public interest.
Responsibilities
- Attending monthly Board meetings;
- Serving on, and ideally chairing, at least one workgroup;
- Assisting in raising funds as agreed upon by the Board;
- Attending and supporting programs, events, fundraising and volunteer recruitment; and
- Promoting Parenting Village’s mission and fulfilling the additional responsibilities outlined in the Board Member Position Description (see below).
Time Commitment
- Minimum of 5-10 hours per month

- Good organizational and interpersonal skills, including presentation and public speaking abilities.
Finance Chair-Position Description
The Finance Chair reports to the Board regarding the ongoing financial viability and stability of Parenting Village while monitoring Parenting Village’s financial information. The Finance Chair will have experience in preparing annual budgets that will support Parenting Village’s goals, as well as provide guidance, assistance and recommendations on Parenting Village’s financial decisions. The Finance chair is responsible for liaising with the CFO of Jewish Family Services in regards to Parenting Village’s finances and also serves on the Executive Committee with the Board President, Vice-President and Secretary.
