As a part of our COVID-19 relief efforts, Foodlink implemented no-touch, drive-thru food distributions at multiple sites across the Rochester region. This was put in place to ensure that individuals impacted by COVID-19 were still able to receive food in a reliable and safe manner.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Emergency Food Box Distributions at Foodlink. Duties will include loading food boxes into cars, and assisting with setup and cleanup.
Volunteer Requirements:
Foodlink is following all safe volunteering guidelines provided by local health officials and the CDC. This includes administering Health Screen Tests and Temperature Checks to all volunteers who participate in Foodlink opportunities at our headquarters or satellite location. Additional safety precautions (e.g social distancing, hand washing & sanitizing) will take place before, during, and after the volunteer shift. In addition, individuals must meet Foodlink’s volunteer requirements below in order to be eligible for this volunteer project:
- Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
- Volunteers should not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g. fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath) or other forms of illnesses.
- Volunteers should not be awaiting COVID-19 test results.
- Volunteers should not have been in close contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.
- Volunteers returning from states with COVID-19 outbreaks should refrain from volunteering for at least 14 days. Click here for a full list of states with current COVID-19 outbreaks: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Face Masks are required for this volunteer activity. It is the responsibility of the volunteer to bring and wear their own facemask.
- Gloves are NOT recommended for this volunteer project, according to Monroe County Health Department officials, as improper use increases the risk of spreading the Coronavirus.
Arrival & Parking:
Volunteers should arrive on time for their volunteer shift so that they are properly screened and trained. Volunteers will be asked to reschedule if they arrive more than 15 minutes late to their volunteer shift. If you are no longer able to make your volunteer shift, please release your spot at least 24 hours in advance.
This volunteer project is located at 1999 Mount Read Blvd, Rochester NY 14615. Please park in the Front Entrance Parking lot and follow the sidewalk along the front of the building until you see the blue "Member Marketplace" awning on the north side of the building. DO NOT follow the Volunteer parking direction signs. A Foodlink staff person will be there to perform a health screen test and temperature check. They will also be there to orient you to the volunteer project.
