Help Goodwill of the Finger Lakes get its Orientation & Mobility Garden and sensory spaces ready for the season! This outdoor area offers a hands-on environment where Goodwill Vision Services helps people practice safe, confident travel (including using white canes outdoors) and engage with sensory-rich plantings.
Additionally, Day of Caring volunteers may assist with the beautificationof garden beds across our main campus and across the street outside the Goodwill retail store and Goodwill Learning Academy.
Volunteers can expect to pitch in with classic spring garden refresh tasks such as clearing debris (raking leaves, removing old branches and dead plant material), pruning and cutting back last year’s perennials and any dead/diseased growth, pulling early weeds, and refreshing mulch to promote healthy plant growth. You may also help with light tool clean-up and seasonal planting of herbs and flowers that enhance the sensory garden experience.
