The Remember Garden in beautiful Highland Park, commemorates over 800 people that were buried at the site that were former residents of the Monroe County Almshouse, penitentiary and insane asylum that was once located on the grounds of the current park.
Every year a group of volunteers spend 1/2 a day weeding and mulching the garden in time for the annual Lilac festival in which hundreds of visitors visit the park and can take a moment to rest and reflect in our memorial garden.
Our event this year is on MAY 3rd starting at 9AM. We must complete before the opening of the Festival, so this is a Day of Caring event, it is just being held early.
Please grab your team, wear some gloves and sunscreen, bring a bucket for weeds and a shovel for mulch and help us get this important area ready for company!
