Who We Are
Lochland School’s mission is to create opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to celebrate independence and encourage success. Guided by a vision rooted in compassion and empowerment, Lochland fosters an inclusive community where every individual’s potential is recognized, uplifted, and supported to thrive.
Founded in 1933, Lochland School is a nonprofit organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Geneva, New York, within the Finger Lakes region. For more than 90 years, Lochland has provided residential and day habilitation programs that deliver individualized, person-centered supports focused on independence, community inclusion, and personal growth.
Through lifelong services, Lochland helps residents build essential life skills, develop meaningful relationships, and actively participate in community life. The organization remains committed to enhancing quality of life through strong family engagement, expanded opportunities for self-advocacy, and inclusive experiences that promote dignity, belonging, and overall well-being.
What We Do
Lochland School provides individualized residential, day habilitation, and community-based programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through person-centered planning, each resident is supported in developing daily living skills, communication, and self-advocacy while working toward greater independence.
Programs include 24/7 residential care, structured day habilitation services, and community engagement opportunities such as volunteer activities, social events, and recreational outings. Lochland also provides nursing, behavioral health, and therapeutic supports to ensure each individual’s physical and emotional well-being. All services are delivered on Lochland’s historic campus, home to the landmark Stewart House, a site connected to the women’s suffrage movement and local history.
In addition, initiatives like Connections at Lochland strengthen relationships among residents, families, and the broader community through family engagement events, volunteer partnerships, and a Resident Council that promotes leadership and self-advocacy.
