Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester

Challenger Miracle Field provides children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities a safe, accessible place to experience physical and mental well-being and the joy of play. Through year-round indoor community events, baseball and other team sports on a barrier-free Miracle Field, and the fully accessible Karpus Family Playground, we support individuals with disabilities socially, emotionally, and physically, leading to greater success and well-being in all areas of life.

Before opening Challenger Miracle Field, there was a disparity in access to inclusive athletics for individuals with disabilities in the Rochester NY area. Run almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers, Challenger Miracle Field has grown from a Baseball League to a robust athletic program and barrier-free playground, including eight different sports leagues and numerous community events year-round. Our services are valuable to the community and are moving the needle toward truly inclusive and accessible recreation experiences for individuals with disabilities. Far more than a playing field, Challenger Miracle Field is “a place where everyone belongs,” whether they are participating in our sports programs, attending social and special events, or using the Karpus Family Playground (used by 700-1200 people weekly). Our 2025 program offerings include: • Challenger Soccer with 3 divisions (players 5 to 8; 9 to 13; and 14 and up) running for 6 weeks in Spring. • Challenger Baseball (ages 4 and up) runs for 12 weeks in spring and summer. • Challenger Flag Football (ages 13 and up) runs for 6 weeks in the fall. • Challenger Bowling at a nearby bowling alley which runs for 8 weeks in the winter. Participants can use bumpers and ramps in a sensory-conscious environment. • Challenger Kickball (ages 12 and up) in the fall. • Challenger Basketball at Webster Parks for 6 weeks in the fall (12 and under; 13 and up). .
