Who We Are

Who We are:

Sri Vidya Temple, a unique spiritual place located in Rush, New York, was established in 1995 as the Rajarajeswari Peetam. It has evolved into a globally renowned “learning temple” open to anyone interested in learning about the traditions of  Sanatana Dharma.

Mission:

To be a learning temple to the world, sharing knowledge, rituals, and ancient traditions of Sri Vidya and Sanatana Dharma: Open and Equal Access, Inclusivity, Intellectual Inquiry, Women's Empowerment, and Youth Involvement, while fostering a space for communities to celebrate their cultural traditions.

What We Do

Community Building and Preserving Cultural Heritage:

  • Preserving South Asian cultural heritage: We celebrate and share the rich traditions of music, art, and literature from South Asia.
  • Building a welcoming community: We provide a safe and inclusive space for South Asian families to connect, gather, and participate in cultural and learning activities.
  • Promoting holistic well-being: We offer programs that combine yoga, meditation, ritual, and music to nurture mental and emotional well-being.

Community Service:

  • Nurturing well-being: We have been serving free meals to all visitors for the past 25 years. Additionally, we:
    •  Support local homeless shelters with monthly deliveries of cooked meals.
    • Provide boxed meals to hospital staff during emergencies and periods of high need.
    • Organize annual canned food and clothing drives.
  • Disaster relief: We are a registered disaster shelter, offering food, clothing, and accommodation in times of crisis.

Empowerment:

  • Education: We advocate for direct, equal, and universal access to learning and cultural practices for all.
  • Women and youth: We empower women and youth through various initiatives.
