Nativity Preparatory Academy of Rochester

Nativity Preparatory Academy is Rochester, New York’s only tuition-free private middle school serving students of all faiths in grades 5-8 in the Catholic tradition. Nativity is dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved students through an education that provides strong academic grounding coupled with a sense of spirituality, morality, and personal responsibility. Within a secure and nurturing environment, we deliver a uniquely effective education through an extended school day and school year, dedicated and caring teachers, personal mentoring, and continuing support after graduation. Nativity was founded in 2009, with the first class of eighth grade students graduating in 2012. The school is jointly co-sponsored by McQuaid Jesuit and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester.

We provide a middle school education, grades 5-8, to students from low-income households to prepare them for high school, college and career. Our unique program provides academic, social-emotional, and financial support to our graduates as they attend area high schools and colleges to ensure their success and access to opportunities. To date, 97% of our students have graduated high school; 79% have graduated from a 2- or 4-year college.
