Who We Are
Our mission is to provide school supplies to children in need.
Pencils and Paper is a program of Jewish Family Service and was founded based on the Jewish time-honored tradition of Tikkun Olam, or repairing the world.
Our doors opened in 2016 and we have served over 800 teachers/semester since our inception. We currently have 2 part-time staff and rely primarily on volunteer involvement serve the community.
What We Do
We offer free classroom shopping for basic school supplies for teachers that work at high poverty schools.
Teachers at qualifying schools (>70% of student population eligible for free or reduced lunch) are invited to register and shop in our store once per semester at no cost to them. We stock our shelves with core classroom basics like crayons, markers, paper, pencils, dry erase markers, art supplies, and more! Everything in our store is available to teachers for free.
In response to COVID-19, we are looking to box school supplies for teachers and have set a goal of at least 700 boxes to be completed this summer!
