Swillburg Neighborhood Association

Swillburg is a Rochester city neighborhood nestled between South Wedge and Highland neighborhoods and the Upper Monroe and Meigs neighborhoods. Swillburg is an a community in a vibrant, diverse area of southeast Rochester. We organize community gardens, community gatherings and encourage and foster this Rochester neighborhood based on diversity, respect and old-fashioned attitudes of being a good neighbor. Our history includes the fight and victory(!) to stop the City of Rochester from putting an expressway through the middle of our neighborhood, which shows the grass-roots determination of a small, but active neighborhood! We celebrate our Community activism at work!

We have enjoyed a relationship with School 35 for 6+ years with our Swillburg Community Garden. The gardens are 4'x 8' raised beds with standing reservations for the School 35's participation standing when  wished. This project began as a UW Day of Caring project with volunteers from the University of Rochester Library Science team. They have been with us every single year since the inception of this project (Team RCL).
