Who We Are

Our Animal Welfare Philosophy

Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.

A force for justice.
At the very core of our organization is our charge to end animal abuse. From our founding in 1873 to end the abuse of working mules along the Erie Canal, Lollypop Farm has been fighting to improve the lives of animals. You have marched alongside our team of law enforcement officers on this path, speaking out for the voiceless to hold animal abusers accountable–saving countless lives.

What We Do

Our team of animal care experts provides personalized, compassionate, life-saving care, with the hope of sending each pet to a new home:

  • We alleviate illness or injury through high-quality veterinary care, critical vaccinations, and spay/neuter.
  • Daily enrichment keeps pets mentally healthy during their stay and focused behavior training rehabilitates unsocialized pets.
  • Our extensive network of foster care volunteers extends our capacity for care and gives animals time in a home setting to grow or heal from trauma.
  • We partner with other rescue groups and shelters when they may be the right option for some pets.
  • Above all, the wellbeing of each pet and the safety of the community is our guide. If either is in jeopardy despite all of our efforts, we’ll make the difficult decision to say a compassionate goodbye.
  • Pets in our care have the time they need, with no predetermined limits on their stay with us.
  • We’ll guide adopters in their search for a new pet–finding the best match for both the pet and the family.

Together.
We’re here for each other. Lollypop Farm looks to you to tell us what you need, to support our work, to speak up for the safety of pets, and to care for pets like family. And we’ll be here for you when you need advice, temporary help, or a new way forward. We’ll build a brighter future for people and animals—together.
