Volunteer United is a FREE platform where you can find, complete, and track your hours for volunteer opportunities in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes Region.


Volunteer United, powered by the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, is used to help over 400+ agencies recruit volunteers by giving them a platform to post volunteer opportunities as well as to help match over 14,000+ potential volunteers to opportunities they are interested in. Volunteer United is free to use for both organizations and volunteers. 

Volunteer United is powered by United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, and serves nonprofit agencies in the following six counties: Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Wayne, and Wyoming. 

First time on the site? Let’s learn some new lingo! Here are some common terms and definitions you will see:

    • Agency: local nonprofit organization.
    • Needs: volunteer opportunities at an agency.
    • Interests: an individual volunteer's preferred type of volunteer work.
    • Causes: designation applied to an agency or program that is used to match volunteers.
    • Dashboard: your dashboard is your "home page". It contains all kinds of information to help you find volunteer opportunities, view your past volunteer efforts, and see what's going on in your community.
    • Profile: the information you’ve input into the site to help the site match you to needs and agencies. This can be edited at any time – click the upper right-hand corner of the site with your initials.
