Join us for a joyful afternoon of music, treats, and connection at St. Ann’s Home & Wegman Care Center. Volunteers are needed to help make our Concert + Ice Cream event special for the elders we serve. This opportunity is a great way to bring smiles, lend a hand, and enjoy a feel‑good experience.

Volunteer Activities Include:
• Assisting elders into and out of the event space (this will include pushing wheelchairs)
• Scooping ice cream and portioning toppings
• Serving and engaging warmly with residents

Your time and kindness will help create a memorable event filled with music, laughter, and community.

We will need a few volunteers to help wipe down some of the equipment and clean up the wellness center

Our Toddler gym has a need for the passing to be cleaned and re organized.

W could use some assistance cleaning some of the toys and mats in the child watch and adventure center areas.

Our aquatics department would appreciate some help scrubbing the pool deck and cleaning up the touch to reach areas.

We need volunteers to pull out our kayaks and canoes, build a rack for our life jackets and help to organize our camp supplies.

The University Ave location could use some sprucing up. Looking for a team willing to help with:

-Weeding, mulching and planting at the Front of the building

-Mulching and planting in Large flower box near back entrance

-Weeding and cleaning up areas near the fences by back parking lot

-Painting back wall of the building

Looking for a team to clean up the flower beds and yard, wash windows on the outside, clean up the playground area, possibly wash toys. This list may be updated before Day of Caring.

We are looking for a team of volunteers to help with yard and playground clean-up. The flower beds could use some TLC.  We would also like assistance with window cleaning inside and out. Possibly sanitizing toys, cleaning etc.

Please consider volunteering at our residence on Maple Ave. We are looking for a team  put down weed mats, clean out the flower beds, plant new flowers, spread mulch and clean up windows.

Help refresh and maintain our buildings, fences, and structures. From painting to simple repairs, your contribution makes our spaces functional, welcoming, and beautiful. No prior experience needed—just enthusiasm and willingness to help.

Who We Are & What We Do
Bridges for Brain Injury is a nonprofit dedicated to helping adults affected by traumatic brain injury, physical disabilities, and related challenges live with greater independence, dignity, and hope. We provide tailored programs, life skills training, service coordination, and supportive services that help individuals bridge the gap between surviving and truly living. Our unique, Wildlife Rockstars program, educates our members on how to take care of over 50 exotic, farm and native animals. We provide presentations throughout the community to raise awareness for brain injuries and provide wildlife education. Our work supports families, and connects people with resources that make daily life more fulfilling and meaningful.

In memory of Edgar Santa Cruz, who was an active member of the urban agriculture community, we will have a day of service starting at Cameron Community Ministries Edgar Santa Cruz Peace Garden and then splitting off into various locations to work in gardens.

Join us for Day of Caring 2026 at Homesteads for Hope Community Farm and help us prepare the farm for an exciting summer season! Volunteers will work together to beautify the farm’s gardens and landscape, helping us plant flowers, spread mulch, and refresh key areas of the property. Depending on the number of volunteers, teams will be divided into several projects such as:

While volunteering, not only will get you to pet some cutie farm animals, but you’ll also learn about the mission of Homesteads for Hope - a community farm that provides inclusive programs for people with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your efforts help prepare the farm to welcome thousands of visitors each summer for programs, classes, and community events. 

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

We have a 2-acre site and have a lot of work do do each spring to get things cleaned up and ready for the summer. Help is appreciated.

Whole Building: Pick up sticks and put in woods. Rake up leaves and bag. Rake wood chips under the swings in back.

Helmer Nature has multiple projects available for individuals and teams on the Day of Caring. Participants can help mulch trails, transplant nursery stock, remove invasives and garden.  We will have our staff on hand to guide work groups through the various projects and will provide bottled water, snacks and a lunch.  We have some gardening tools and work gloves but will likely need more so bring your own if you can. We will have 2 bathrooms available and our classroom will be open for the storage of belongings.

Our residents love spending time in the gardens in the warm weather, and our awesome volunteers can help make a beautiful outdoor space for them to enjoy. In the center of our shelter is a garden called Lily's Garden. This task will be to clean up, replant the pots, and do a basic refresh in the area.

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with a variety of activities to enhance the temple grounds: Outdoor Activities: (weather permitting)

Gardening: Planting flowers, weeding, and tending to the existing gardens.

Mulching: Spreading mulch to improve soil health and aesthetics.

Painting: Refreshing fences, benches, or other designated areas

General cleanup: Removing debris and tidying the grounds.

Indoor Activities: (in case of rain) Beautify Interior: Collaborating on a creative project to beautify the temple's interior. Organizing shelves: Tidying and rearranging shelves. Cleaning and decluttering: Wiping down surfaces, organizing supplies, and creating a more welcoming environment.

HomeCare & Hospice is seeking Patient and Bereavement Volunteers in Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus Counties who are willing to share their time, compassion, and life experiences with hospice patients and their families.

Many hospice patients choose to spend their final months in the comfort of home, surrounded by loved ones. In addition to the care provided by our medical, aide, spiritual, and social work teams, volunteers play a special role by offering companionship, comfort, and support during an important stage of life.

Sometimes the most meaningful gift you can give is simply your presence.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and bring unique talents and perspectives that help brighten the days of those we serve.

PATIENT VOLUNTEERS
Patient Volunteers provide companionship and support to hospice patients in their homes, hospitals, or nursing facilities.

As a Patient Volunteer, you may:

Spend time with patients so caregivers can take a short break with peace of mind.

Share conversations, listen to stories, read aloud, play games, or simply be a comforting presence.

Bereavement Volunteers support families as they navigate the grief process following the loss of a loved one.

As a Bereavement Volunteer, you may:

Connect with families through phone calls, visits, or thoughtful mailings.
-Support Healing Activities
Assist with remembrance services, memorial events, or bereavement programs.
-Offer a Listening Ear
Provide compassionate presence while families process their loss.

Your empathy and kindness can help families feel supported during one of life’s most difficult times.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING & REQUIREMENT
Because Patient, Bereavement, and Office Volunteers may work directly with patients or patient information, volunteers complete the same application and training process as hospice employees. This includes an annual physical, MMR vaccination, and initial PPD test, all provided at no cost. We also work with volunteers to accommodate individual schedules and availability.

We would love your help to get our campus ready for spring and summer by doing some gardening and prepping our patio. We will have snacks and gardening supplies, but we encourage you to bring your own gloves, kneeling pads, shovels, etc. if you have them.  We are always so grateful for the volunteers who help us out each year for United Way's Annual Day of Caring, and we look forward to working with you! 

t’s time for spring cleaning on one of Rochester’s premiere urban nature/hiking trails, Thomas R. Frey Trail at El Camino, a 2.25 mile multi-purpose pedestrian greenway adapted from an old railroad line with a children’s playground at its heart. The trail and the gardens at the playground require cleaning of winter debris, weeding, planting and mulching. Shovels, rakes, loppers, work gloves are provided. We would like five teams of about 15-20 each to be working at 3 locations along the trail and at the entrance at Brewer Street to the Riverway Trail. 

Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools and gloves if they prefer to use them.

Coffee/doughnuts on arrival. Salvatore's pizza, sodas, fruit, cookies at noon.

Refresh swingset and yard: Sweep Basketball court, clean little courtyard by white lilac, pick up trash, fill lot ruts with stones.

Playground area: Rake and fill ruts from the snow plows. Rake wood chips on playgrounds. Do NOT add wood chips.

Beautify the area around the Holy Childhood Sign. Fill any ruts, and cut down brown grass. Edge and mulch the circle. Trim the evergreens into mounds. Trim the perennials.

Be part of an unforgettable Day of Caring at the Paychex JA Discovery Center, in which students step into a fully immersive “mini‑city” to learn real‑world skills in finance, careers, and entrepreneurship. Junior Achievement is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help guide students through hands‑on activities that bring these concepts to life. As a volunteer, you will encourage students, answer questions, and keep the experience fun and engaging. This is a 4–5-hour commitment and training will be held before you volunteer. Represent your company or team as part of United Way’s Day of Caring!!

Help us open Camp Bay View and our outdoor landscape.  Weeding, mulching, and  preparing the community  garden.  Cleaning the outdoor aquatic center and pool deck.  Painting and cleaning camp shelters.  Assembling new outdoor furniture and moving picnic tables and outdoor furniture.

We will need assistance with laying mulch, planting flowers, and other yard work on our campus. As the date gets closer, we will have more work that will be discovered!

As part of our mission to activate public spaces downtown, we are looking for individuals who would like to donate their time to play chess at beautiful St. Joseph's Park. We will set you up with a table and chess board (if needed). You just take on anyone who wishes to play!

No special chess talent is needed... as long as you know the basic rules you're good to go!

Ever wanted to parlay your musical skills into being a street performer? Always wondered what it would be like to be a "busker" for a day?

As part of our mission to activate public spaces downtown, we are looking for individuals who would like to donate their time to play an instrument for an hour or three at a downtown park.

This initiative is a way to bring community together and engage with others, while energizing a park with activity and fun. Young, old or in-between are invited to participate. You pick the day and the time... even an hour is welcome, but 2-4 hours is preferred.

You don't need to be "world-class"... as long as you love playing you're exactly who we want! Bring a friend or two along too!

Ideal instruments include guitar (electric or acoustic), fiddle, violin (or any string instrument), saxophone, harmonica, bagpipes, or keyboard.

We need a yard clean up and trimming of small branches

On May 21, alongside the Erie Canal, we will be cleaning kayaks and cycles, checking for maintenance needs, pumping up tires, and cleaning & sprucing up the area where they are stored.

How Your Help Impacts People’s Lives:

Most people do not need to think about what recreational opportunities are available for them because almost everything is an option. You wake up on a Saturday morning and say, "What will I do today?" and you go and do it! For people living with disabilities, it is not that simple. 

RAA is working to broaden the inclusive recreational options in our community for people living with disabilities so that there is a choice of what is available, when it is available and who they can invite to experience the opportunity with them. This way people can “play” with whomever they want when it works for them. RAA has placed adaptive kayaks and cycles along the Canal from Buffalo to Schuylerville and works through various businesses to make them available to people with disabilities whenever the businesses are open.  

What You’ll be Helping Us With:

Adaptive equipment tends to be very expensive, so we try to keep it in the best condition as possible. We would love for your help in doing that. For many people, the ability to use this equipment brings independence, engagement with loved ones, and not sitting on the sidelines while others have fun together. How fun to be able to wake up on Saturday morning and ask, “What do I want to do today and who do I want to invite along?”

So please join us in making inclusion happen and get ready to wash some equipment, pump up some tires, grease some chains and help us get ready for an active and fun summer on the Canal for EVERYONE!

Construction and landscaping volunteers are essential to our mission of building homes, communities, and hope. No experience needed. Our construction team are professionals who will walk you through your tasks. We work year-round if conditions are safe. Close-toed shoes are required. We recommend wearing hard-soled shoes, work gloves, and dressing in layers. A hat or sunscreen is recommended in hot weather. Please do not wear sandals, flip flops, halter tops, or jewelry. We provide all tools and safety equipment, but you are welcome to bring your own. There will be a portable toilet on-site. On street parking is available on surrounding neighborhood streets. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Washing classroom exterior windows to help bring in more natural light for the children and Filling raised flower beds with soil Planting flowers and/or plants in two raised beds and two large outdoor pots This project will directly support our early childhood program by creating a welcoming, clean, and vibrant outdoor environment for the children and families we serve. Outdoor spaces are an important part of our daily curriculum. We greatly appreciate the time and energy of our volunteers and look forward to working together to enhance our space!

Stain porch decks and rails of our cabins

Begin Again Horse Rescue is an equine rescue that houses approximately 16 equines on-site.  The equines are all rescues or owner surrenders and are under evaluation and care for rehabilitation and rehoming.  The United Day of Caring volunteers are key to helping spruce up the rescue.  Some key focus areas include painting fences/barn doors, weeding and gardening around the house on the property, cleaning the fence line, and general yard work.  Maintaining the rescue for the safety of the equines and the volunteers is an important focus.   Both individuals and teams are welcome.  BAHR will provide lunch for the volunteers.  Thank you for considering and choosing BAHR for the 2026 United Day of Caring volunteering.  

Russer bridge needs to be taken completely

Help clear a parcel of property next to the Auburn Rail Trail.

We'll be cutting down scrub bushes and trees, clearing weeds and rocks, and leveling the ground.

Tools will be provided by Victor Hiking Trails.

Dress for the weather, bring gloves and water if you have them.

Assisting with Projects at the Lyons Youth Baseball and Softball Complex

Projects may include painting/sealing porches or other outdoor areas on our campus, spreading mulch, or weeding and planting flowers.  There is not an alternative plan if it rains.

Pull weeds and extra growth, fill with mulch until it reaches 6-12 in from the top of stumps

Rake leaves & debris from creek and the creek banks, side of the road, parking areas, weed under entrance sign, cut back over hanging branches, remove vines & new growth.  

Paint/Staining the walls that go around the garbage bins

Clear dead and fallen limbs, trim overhanging branches, rake/add mulch to even out high/low spots, pile branches at trail entrances, sweep trail docks.  

Ropes Course/Treehouse:  Pull weeds, rake leaves, clear brush/fallen limbs, clear brush under cargo net, check for bees nests on course, trim low branches, weed whack the grove and around the treehouse, add mulch to even out high/low spots, and watch for poison ivy in trees under treehouse

Pull weeds and mulch entire playground.  Weed whack around edges where needed. 

Touch up of paint on our cabins. 

General cleaning of our health center, dust, sweep, mopping, disinfecting mattresses & wash windows.
