Group will assist with opening the Carriage Museum for the 2025 tour season.  Activities my include light cleaning of our vehicle collection and display areas.  (Dress to be outdoors)

If group is large enough, we also will have painting, light yardwork, housekeeping tasks available, as well.

We are looking for literacy coaches for our after school program that serves new Americans developing their literacy skills (Somali, Nepali, Hispanic populations). The after school programs runs from 3-5pm (2 hour shifts).

Looking for food servers and drivers to help with our food services for patrons. 

Monday thru Saturday, shifts between 12-5pm - flexible durations between those times.

Youth mentor will support urban youth ages 10-21, during out of school time, providing youth with homework help, facilitate group activities and chaperone for field trips. Monday to Friday from 3 to 5pm

We are looking for volunteers to help with spring cleaning at the Hochstein School of Music. Tasks include cleaning up both the inside and outside of the school, gardening, and other maintenance.

Tech Support Volunteers assist residents with operating their personal technology such as cell phones, tablets, and laptop computers. Tech support volunteers will help residents set up their devices, change settings, connect multiple devices, and any other basic tech help they may need. Tech Support Volunteers will visit their ESLC community occasionally to provide assistance during an “office hours” period.

Qualifications:

·         Encourage group members to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

·         Ensure a positive, encouraging experience for attendees.

·         Collect up to date contact information from participants and submit session attendance.

·         Send participants follow up information and resources when applicable.

·         Remind participants of upcoming meetings.

·         Report any problems or concerns

An Alzheimer’s and Dementia Educator plays a key role in raising awareness and providing education about Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and brain health. This will involve delivering presentations, workshops, and educational sessions to various groups, including caregivers, families, and people living with dementia, to increase understanding of dementia and promote early detection, prevention strategies, and caregiving support.

Qualifications

·         Strong skills in communication, presenting, and educating adult audiences.

·         Ability to create and maintain a safe environment where participants’ thoughts and feelings are valued and everyone is treated with fairness and respect.

·         Comfort with computers, email, and powerpoint presentations.

·         Passionate about supporting people living with dementia and their family caregivers.

·         Deliver prepared, engaging, and informative education programs to families, caregivers, and people living with dementia.

·         Facilitate discussions and answer questions to help participants better understand dementia and caregiving challenges

St. Leo Senior Apartments is an independent living community in Hilton. St. Leo is seeking volunteers who are energetic and eager to help in the community, particularly in ways that will connect with the older adult population.

St. Leo's Senior Apartments is a supportive housing community in Hilton, New York. Episcopal SeniorLife Communities provides services to residents at St. Leo's through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI). Friendly visitors work on a one-on-one basis with residents, have conversations, play games, and provide social interaction. United Way Day of Caring – May 21st

Help us beautify our house for Spring! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lend a hand with refreshing both the inside and outside of our space. Your time and effort will help create a clean, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

t’s time for spring cleaning on one of Rochester’s premiere urban nature/hiking trails, Thomas R. Frey Trail at El Camino, a 2.25 mile multi-purpose pedestrian greenway adapted from an old railroad line with a children’s playground at its heart. The trail and the gardens at the playground require cleaning of winter debris, weeding, planting and mulching. Shovels, rakes, loppers, work gloves are provided. We would like five teams of about 15-20 each to be working at 3 locations along the trail and at the entrance at Brewer Street to the Riverway Trail. 

Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools and gloves if they prefer to use them.

Coffee/doughnuts on arrival. Salvatore's pizza, sodas, fruit, cookies at noon.

We are looking for help to get our outdoor classroom up and running. This could include putting together garden beds, clearing the trail space, planting trees, making signs and cleaning the general outdoor areas. While we will have some supplies, weedwackers, pressure washers and rakes would be helpful to make this a success! 

We have a storage unit in the Hall of Justice that needs some love and organization! We have had some very generous donations over the years, and we need some of the gifts/toys unwrapped and/or organized by age/ skill, etc. We will purchase shelves (that will need to be assembled) and baskets for the toys to be placed into once they are sorted. We have other items that could use a freshen up as well. 

Wood Library collects new and gently-used purses from community members throughout the year for its signature November fundraiser - Pursapalooza.  On The United Way Day of Caring, volunteers will gather at Wood Library to clean donated purses.  This volunteer opportunity is a perfect activity for anyone who enjoys purses and loves libraries! 

We are looking for assistance with our yard and gardens - raking and spreading mulch.

This year, we need assistance with getting our gardens up for the spring season. This includes weeding, mulching, and planting annuals. Our garden club will be here to assist you. If you have gardening tools and gloves, please bring them along. We also have garage cleaning and work inside the museum to get us ready for opening on May 22. We will be ordering lunch for all.

Books in the library have already been alphabetized and physically categorized, and many are already entered into our system. Volunteers will help review those entries in Airtable to ensure each book is assigned to the correct category.

There may also be newly donated books that need to be added to the system. Volunteers will help enter basic information for these items and place them in the appropriate category with step-by-step guidance from staff.

We need volunteers to pull out our kayaks and canoes, build a rack for our life jackets and help to organize our camp supplies.

Your efforts help prepare the farm to welcome thousands of visitors each summer for programs, classes, and community events. 

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

We have a 2-acre site and have a lot of work do do each spring to get things cleaned up and ready for the summer. Help is appreciated.

Whole Building: Pick up sticks and put in woods. Rake up leaves and bag. Rake wood chips under the swings in back.

Cleaning and manicuring the outside of the home including landscaping and window cleaning. Possible staining.

Helmer Nature has multiple projects available for individuals and teams on the Day of Caring. Participants can help mulch trails, transplant nursery stock, remove invasives and garden.  We will have our staff on hand to guide work groups through the various projects and will provide bottled water, snacks and a lunch.  We have some gardening tools and work gloves but will likely need more so bring your own if you can. We will have 2 bathrooms available and our classroom will be open for the storage of belongings.

Cracker Box has a number of cleaning projects for volunteers:

1. Wash windows in and out in the barns.  This crew would also be responsible for cleaning and dusting the stall areas:

Equipment and Attire:   Paper Towels, rags, buckets, gloves.  Cracker would supply the materials to use for cleaning.

The Farm has various painting project that could be worked on during Day of Caring.  Please see the following list of available opportunities:

3. Rabbit Building- porch rail and posts

4. Stain New Wood at stalls in the Horse Barn

Required attire and equipment:  Paint brushes, rollers, trays.   Protective clothes and gloves as needed.   Cracker Box will provide materials.

Our property has been under construction, so it is quite messy. We would like a group to come clean up around the property and power wash the front of the building

In the center of our shelter is a garden called Lily's Garden. This task will be to clean up, replant the pots, and do a basic refresh in the area.

We have numerous benches around the property that need to be sanded down and stained for the upcoming season

We have several areas at the school that need new sets of eyes to organize, update, arrange, clean up, etc.  No heavy lifting required just patience. We'd love to have your helping hands - thank-you in advance!

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with a variety of activities to enhance the temple grounds: Outdoor Activities: (weather permitting)

Gardening: Planting flowers, weeding, and tending to the existing gardens.

Mulching: Spreading mulch to improve soil health and aesthetics.

Painting: Refreshing fences, benches, or other designated areas

General cleanup: Removing debris and tidying the grounds.

Indoor Activities: (in case of rain) Beautify Interior: Collaborating on a creative project to beautify the temple's interior. Organizing shelves: Tidying and rearranging shelves. Cleaning and decluttering: Wiping down surfaces, organizing supplies, and creating a more welcoming environment.

HomeCare & Hospice is seeking Patient and Bereavement Volunteers in Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus Counties who are willing to share their time, compassion, and life experiences with hospice patients and their families.

Many hospice patients choose to spend their final months in the comfort of home, surrounded by loved ones. In addition to the care provided by our medical, aide, spiritual, and social work teams, volunteers play a special role by offering companionship, comfort, and support during an important stage of life.

Sometimes the most meaningful gift you can give is simply your presence.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and bring unique talents and perspectives that help brighten the days of those we serve.

PATIENT VOLUNTEERS
Patient Volunteers provide companionship and support to hospice patients in their homes, hospitals, or nursing facilities.

As a Patient Volunteer, you may:
-Provide Respite for Caregivers
Spend time with patients so caregivers can take a short break with peace of mind.
-Offer Companionship
Share conversations, listen to stories, read aloud, play games, or simply be a comforting presence.
-Help with Meaningful Activities
Support memory-sharing projects such as scrapbooks, letters to loved ones, music, or creative bedside activities.
-Lend a Helping Hand
Assist with light tasks, puzzles, or small activities that brighten the day.
-Help with Small Errands
Occasionally pick up groceries or prescriptions to help ease the burden on families.

Your kindness and time can bring comfort, connection, and dignity to someone’s final journey.

BEREAVEMENT VOLUNTEERS
Bereavement Volunteers support families as they navigate the grief process following the loss of a loved one.

As a Bereavement Volunteer, you may:
-Provide Comfort and Support
Connect with families through phone calls, visits, or thoughtful mailings.
-Support Healing Activities
Assist with remembrance services, memorial events, or bereavement programs.
-Offer a Listening Ear
Provide compassionate presence while families process their loss.

Your empathy and kindness can help families feel supported during one of life’s most difficult times.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING & REQUIREMENT
Because Patient, Bereavement, and Office Volunteers may work directly with patients or patient information, volunteers complete the same application and training process as hospice employees. This includes an annual physical, MMR vaccination, and initial PPD test, all provided at no cost. We also work with volunteers to accommodate individual schedules and availability.

We would love your help to get our campus ready for spring and summer by doing some gardening and prepping our patio. We will have snacks and gardening supplies, but we encourage you to bring your own gloves, kneeling pads, shovels, etc. if you have them.  We are always so grateful for the volunteers who help us out each year for United Way's Annual Day of Caring, and we look forward to working with you!
