Description

The Alliance for the Great Lakes is a nonpartisan nonprofit working across the Great Lakes region to protect our most precious resource: the fresh, clean, and natural waters of the Great Lakes. We are active in advocacy, volunteering, education, and research.

Each year, through the Adopt-a-Beach program, thousands of volunteers work to keep the Great Lakes shorelines healthy by removing litter from our beaches and collecting important data.

We hope you’ll join us on Saturday, September 17, 2022 for a Great Lakes day of action as we work to reach our goal of 500,000 pounds of litter removed from Great Lakes shorelines!

Thousands of Adopt-a-Beach volunteers will clean and celebrate Great Lakes shorelines as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

Volunteers on all five lakes and in each of the eight Great Lakes states will join the ranks of 16 million global volunteers that care for and take a stand for their local waters.

It’s easy to jump right into the Adopt-a-Beach community.

Sign up for September Adopt-a-Beach today! You can take part in two ways:

  1. Click to find an Adopt-a-Beach cleanup near you and sign up. A Team Leader will meet you at the beach with all the supplies!
  2. You can also click to become a Team Leader and host your own September Adopt-a-Beach cleanup with friends, family, or community members. This is a great opportunity to keep your community beautiful and engage those around you. We have lots of resources to help you organize a successful cleanup!

We hope to see you on the beach in September!
