Foodlink's Lexington Ave. Community Farm is a commercial growing center for our various nutrition education and food access programs. It also serves more than 90 refugee families who use the area to grow their own fresh produce. Volunteers are needed to help maintain the farm by completing various general farm maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to:
- Planting/ weeding/watering
- Spreading mulch and turning compost heaps
- Installing and repairing irrigation
Physical Intensity: High. Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting(tools, pallets, or other items) anywhere between to 20-70lbs.
What to Bring/Wear: Your Energy! Please also wear sneakers and weather-appropriate clothing you do not mind getting dirty. Sunscreen and hats are encouraged. Volunteers should also reframe from wearing cologne and perfume(it attracts bees). Bring you own water bottle. Water and Lunch will be provided. Gardening tools are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
