Our next distribution is coming soon, and we need your help to provide essential hygiene products to our community in need! For our distribution on Saturday, September 13th, we are especially in need of deodorants (mens, womens, and unisex), tampons and maxi pads, body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent (regular/sensitive skin), and kitchen garbage bags. Each newly diagnosed individual who participates in a Breast Cancer or Gynecologic Cancer 101 at the Breast Cancer Coalition is provided with a PALS Pak, which contains useful and comforting items for those who are going through surgery and treatment. Each item in the Pak has a purpose. For example, the Susan Love Breast Book provides critical information and gift cards are added for those times when meal preparation is impossible. Mints can burn delicate mouth tissue during chemotherapy, so ginger candies, which may help reduce nausea, are included instead.

The American Red Cross provides almost 40% of the blood and blood products used by hospitals in the area. Volunteer drivers are a crucial part of getting these products to where they are needed in a safe and timely manner. Drivers pick up from the blood drives and deliver it to the warehouse for testing and deliver blood products to hospitals throughout the community. Must have valid driver's license. Ability to lift 45 lbs. Able to complete required paperwork. We're especially looking for drivers looking to be on-call for STAT runs. Natural and human-caused disasters occur every day, reminding us how vulnerable we can be. The American Red Cross takes action every day to serve people affected by disasters, rushing to the aid of a family, a neighborhood or an entire community.

Disaster Action Team (DAT) members respond locally to all disasters whenever they occur day or night. DAT members commit to being on-call and available for defined shifts so that when an emergency occurs either a dispatcher or the Disaster Program Manager can reach them and dispatch them immediately. DAT members meet with family members to determine their immediate, disaster-caused needs.

There is a special need for volunteers to support sheltering efforts during disaster relief operations across the country to help provide immediate compassion and care. Help comfort and support people who are forced from their homes due to fires, storms and other emergencies so they don’t have to face tough times alone.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester is seeking caring community partners to provide one dinner per month for families staying at our House Within the Hospital, located inside Strong Memorial Hospital.

This quiet, seven-bedroom space supports families with critically ill children, allowing them to stay just steps from their child’s bedside during intensive treatment. Due to the sensitive nature of the environment, we cannot host volunteer groups on-site — but your organization can still make a powerful impact by donating a comforting, ready-to-serve meal.

Your support helps provide warmth, care, and relief to families during incredibly difficult times — something they truly appreciate.

During 2025, our Arnett Clinic is going to be undergoing extensive renovations. We're looking for a space to store equipment like exam tables and furniture throughout our project. 

Our Garden Club has become extremely popular! We are looking for people with gardening experience to work alongside our other volunteers to assist the adults in our Day Habilitation program. The group meets on Wednesday mornings and there was so much interest we have wanted to make it year round.  We are also seeking donations of soil, perennials and other gardening supplies. If you are interested in donating you time, knowledge, supplies or all of the above please reach out!

Meals On Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to residents in the Monroe County with more urgent needs in the City of Rochester, Irondequoit and Greece!

Partner with your friend, spouse, family member or neighbor and volunteer to deliver meals together!

Our Children's Place is looking for Early Childhood Education students needing to fulfill their internships. Interested individuals must call Barb at 585-394-5310 and state they are looking to become an intern.

We have a team of caregivers who work in pairs for 4-hour shifts to provide personal care for our residents. No prior experience is required as training will be provided, along with the opportunity to shadow current caregivers. Caregivers will also interact with residents' families and friends, perform light meal preparation, take care of laundry, answer phones, greet visitors, and work together with the Aurora House staff. We encourage caregivers to volunteer for at least one 4-hour shift per month.

Persons needed to assist in moving furniture from a local hotel to a warehouse

1. Volunteers should be physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying heavy items safely.

2. Teamwork: Volunteers who can work well in a team, communicate effectively, and collaborate to get the job done efficiently.

3. Volunteers should arrive on time and be committed to the schedule to ensure the project stays on track.

It would be great to have persons who own a truck and are able to drive a Uhaul

We are in need of all size diapers (1-6) for our refugee children. In 2022, we provided 459 diapers to 101 parents for their babies. Our supply has run dry and we are in need of donations to continue to provide them to our families.

Laptop computers are needed so our families can write resumes, search the internet for employment, and connect! We have an IT specialist who can fix older laptops and "scrub" information to get these devices ready for family use.

Each year Bristol Valley Theater employs 35-40 out of area professional theater makers to come to our beautiful region to work for the summer and in return for their hard work, the organization houses them in and around Naples. With that comes a need to supply bedding for the staff and this year we are asking to replace our old bedding that needs to be retired. The organization is asking for twin and full sized bedding and sheet sets, and pillows for our incredible summer staff.

Seeking a volunteer(s) to help create content (videos, photography, posts, blogs) for social media postings to share the good work of Kirkhaven with the community.

The digital literacy navigator will spend time in their local library system volunteering to help members of their community better understand and use computer based programs. The digital literacy navigator will attend an orientation that prepares them with the necessary information to be successful in delivering services effectively in their community based setting. Our navigators must have proficient skills in using computer and hand held devices. Tasks may include but not limited to; creating an email, online job search, resume/cover letter writing, operating desk top and hand held devices, using a variety of software, navigating the internet. Our volunteers are asked to make the 1-3-6 commitment, volunteer 1 time per week at a 3 hour shift for a minimum of 6 months. We work to accommodate the location, date and time of your shifts giving you control over your schedule and what works best for you. We are currently looking to staff libraries in Livingston and Wyoming Counties. Our current library partners in Livingston County include; Avon Free Library, Dansville Public Library, Livonia Public Library, Mt. Morris Public Library and Wadsworth Library. Our current library partners in Wyoming County include; Cordelia A. Greene Library, Perry Public Library, Stevens Memorial Community Library and Warsaw Public Library. This initiative has been developed to work on closing the digital divide by allowing access to computer/internet services and critical knowledge of the technological age we live in, to all persons in our communities.

Shepherd Home is seeking a volunteer with Grant writing experience to aid in identifying and applying for Grant assistance.  

Our Resident Care volunteers provide personal care to our residents and extend support and hospitality to the residents’ families and friends.
Prospective volunteers have the opportunity to shadow our nurse, and other volunteers to acquaint themselves with the care given at Shepherd Home.

Requirements:  All you need is a compassionate heart and a drive to help those who are terminal to live their best life.  We will teach you the rest.

Can you give a temporary home for a dog in need? One of our adoptable dogs would like to be your companion for a little while! Our shelter will set you up with food and equipment. Our dogs receive medical care from our shelter clinic. You provide a place to stay, daily care and exercise, and maybe some treats? We work around your schedule. The dogs are promoted for adoption through our website and social media.  Many dogs have found homes quickly after a brief stay in a foster home. This is a great way for folks who can't have a "permanent" pet to help a dog in need.

We are looking for volunteers to lead fun (socially distant) out door activities for adults, such as Yoga or Zumba or other aerobic classes in our parking lot.

We will be starting our Mobile Diaper Bank in the next few weeks, as our facility is unable to be open to our families in need.  Our mobile diaper bank will help families to get the items needed now, in light of this pandemic and later to help combat the transportation barrier.  We have a sufficient supply of diaper ( I think!) Volunteers of America’s Emergency Shelter for Homeless Families is open and operating.   We are serving more than 50 men, women and children daily, providing them with housing, nutritious meals, and private rooms were they can safely self-isolate.  

We rely on the generous support of community members to provide us with basic necessities for families, including personal toiletries (shampoo and deodorant), towels and linens.  We also need supplies for the shelter, including:

 There are three different volunteer positions at this time: Isolation Home Visit & Education, Coronavirus Hotline Caller, and a Catchall Taskforce Member. Everyone will go through Personal Protective Equipment (PPE – wearing a mask and gloves) training just to be familiar with the process even if they are not planning on being on a field team. Because of the nature of the work, you should be able to commit 10+ hours/week for the next 2-3 months.

Isolation Home Visit & Education:

This position will require training for donning and doffing personal protective equipment. The job duties will include traveling to people’s home who have met the qualifications to be mandatorily quarantined until their symptoms subside. These people need further instruction on what quarantine means, what to do if their signs and symptoms get worse, and to be tested to see if they have COVID-19. You will also provide them with a kit to help guide them through the process. The personal protective equipment is a measure in keeping you safe.

Coronavirus Hotline Caller:

We are inundated with the call volume on the Coronavirus Hotline we have set up and need medical and non-medical people to be able to call people back and follow a script to answer their questions or gain more information. We would like you to call back people who did not give the hotline enough information, they have a standard question that can be answered with one of our scripts, or they need someone to help educate them on their situation. This could be explaining to them why they are not at risk, why they do not need to get tested for Coronavirus, who to contact for a resource need, etc. Also, some people may be needed to call a list of people under voluntary quarantine to ask and record their daily temperatures.

Catchall Taskforce Member:

As with most operations, there is always a small task, a workload getting out of control, or days short of staff. A “Catchall Taskforce” is being formed  to include a  trained group of people  able to jump in and help out in every area with short notice. This may include jumping on the phone and making calls, helping with food delivery, receiving supplies when they arrive, clerical work, making kits for the Isolation teams, or even heading out into the field when necessary.

We are in need of paper products, cleaning supplies, hand soap and hand sanitizer for our Residential services.
