Volunteer: Walmart gift cardOne of the housing options the YWCA offers is treatment program for women recovering from substance disorder. We provide apartments for women and their children. We do not separate families which makes us unique in New York state. Our Stepping Stones program has a stellar reputation, and we have helped countless families on the road to recovery. We provide all the apartments with essential goods, including pots and pans, flatware, sheets, towels, etc. We like to keep all the items provided in the individual apartments uniform, and we find the best deals at Wal-Mart, so we are requesting Wal-Mart gift cards to be used specifically for this program. The YWCA is required to provide these essential goods to our residents, but the funding sources are drying up! Perhaps you would like to do this as a group fundraiser? Or a competition? We would love that Thanks! Any questions, contact Ruth at rrappaportkristal@ywcarochester.org or call 585-368-2265.

Volunteer: Foster Caregivers for DogsCan you give a temporary home for a dog in need? One of our adoptable dogs would like to be your companion for a little while! Our shelter will set you up with food and equipment. Our dogs receive medical care from our shelter clinic. You provide a place to stay, daily care and exercise, and maybe some treats? We work around your schedule. The dogs are promoted for adoption through our website and social media. Many dogs have found homes quickly after a brief stay in a foster home. This is a great way for folks who can't have a "permanent" pet to help a dog in need.
