Volunteer: Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner Ready to change a life from the comfort of home? Join ENGin as a conversation partner and be matched with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one-on-one English conversations. In just one hour a week, you can help someone build confidence, break the language barrier, and feel supported, all while discovering a new culture and making a genuine human connection. We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll facilitate English practice for your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection. Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed to volunteer with ENGin. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us. Since our launch in 2020, ENGin has matched over 30,000 volunteers with Ukrainians for authentic English-language connection across borders, and we continue to grow every day. 99% of our learners report feeling they were able to break the language barrier as a participant in our program, and 79% of our participants form lasting friendships. We're incredibly proud of these results, and we can't wait to welcome you into this global community of volunteers making them possible. Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience. "I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up." “Fantastic organization doing great work. So happy to be a small part of it. My partner and I have worked together for two years and have become good friends! Her English has become better, and I have become more knowledgeable about Ukraine!” "This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. I really consider her more like my daughter right now. That's how close we have become!" Ready to Get Started? Volunteer: Seeking Patient & Bereavement Volunteers for HomeCare & HospiceHomeCare & Hospice is Seeking Patient & Bereavement Volunteers in Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus Counties HomeCare & Hospice is looking for caring individuals, professionals, and service veterans who are willing to use their skills and experiences to enhance the lives of hospice patients, many of whom have chosen to spend their remaining days at home with their families. Both patients and their families not only require the help of the medical, aide, spiritual, and social work team provided by HomeCare & Hospice, but also need the support and respite that can be performed by compassionate members of the community. Volunteers can bring their attention, ability to listen, and their own shared life experiences to expand patients’ horizons at a time when illness has limited the connections to their former world. Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We are in need of those willing to provide companionship - meeting patients in their homes, in the hospital, or in a nursing home where they converse with the patient, read, play games, serve prepared meals, etc. This allows the caregiver to receive a short respite while knowing that their loved one is safe and comfortable. If you enjoy being with people and would like to make a real difference in the lives of others, please consider learning more about this critically important endeavor. Volunteer: Snack Bag Program - East River Road Pediatric Hospitality CartSupport the Pediatric Hospitality Cart at East River Road Pediatrics Snack bag donations will help us launch and maintain a stationary hospitality cart for families visiting the Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness, and Pediatric Neurology clinics at UR Medicine. This cart will offer free snack bags to children and their caregivers during clinic visits—providing comfort and relief during what can be long and stressful days. East River Road Pediatrics sees approximately 30,000 visits each year, with many families traveling 30 miles or more to attend appointments. For these families, a simple, nutritious snack can offer a moment of ease and care. To bring this program to life, we’re seeking 52 volunteer groups or individuals—one for each week of the year—to commit to donating 500 pre-packaged snack bags, just once, for a designated week in 2026. Engage your family, corporate team, or service group to gather snacks, assemble the packs, and deliver them to our House to be available for our team to bring to East River Road! Each snack bag costs only $1.41 to assemble, but the impact is priceless. Just one snack bag can brighten a child’s day, ease a caregiver’s stress, and support a positive clinic experience. With your support, we will be able to operate the Pediatric Hospitality Cart Monday through Friday, four hours a day, providing consistent care and nourishment to families all year long. We can’t do it without you. Will you help us make a difference—one snack bag at a time? If you are ready to make your commitment right now to supporting this program and would like to sign up for a week (or more!) in the first six months of 2026, please sign up directly using our calendar: Calendar Essential Tasks: Place all snack bag items into a brown paper bag, ensuring that each item is store-bought and shelf-stable, as refrigeration is not available.
