ASPIRA is a school-based, early intervention program designed to assist students who are transitioning from primary to secondary level education. ASPIRA is designed to be delivered in both individual and small group support formats. Students will be assigned to an Ibero Mentor who has been trained in the implementation of the ASPIRA model. Each Youth Mentor will provide peer and social skills development strategies, behaviorally-based incentives, achievement recognition and rule compliance structure- which leads to enhanced academic and behavioral outcomes for the student. Providing cognitive and non-cognitive developmental support is critical for student success. Mentors will focus on closing education gaps, including summer school support, to ensure they meet developmental milestones, while promoting social, emotional, and physical wellness.
