Helmer Nature Center

Helmer Nature Center has been conserved and preserved by the West Irondequoit CSD as an outdoor classroom and an environmental resource for the surrounding community since 1973. The mission of Helmer Nature Center is to foster environmental awareness and promote global stewardship by offering the community experiences encountering and enjoying the natural world.

Helmer Nature Center is an environmental education facility offering hands-on, integrated learning opportunities to learners from pre-school to adult age levels. The nature center also hosts seasonal community events such as Fall Harvest Festival, Maple Weekend tours and breakfasts, Christmas Tree Recycling, Snowshoeing, Owl Prowls and other family focused activities.
