Who We Are

The Avenue is where the cool kids (of all ages) come to play. A Black-owned, inclusive, fully-accessible, queer space where social justice and art converge to create dynamic stage productions, installations and live art-making events for and by us. Our focus is on honoring and uplifting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ voices, art and issues. Your patronage supports building community that elevate voices from the margins, makes space for their art and real time community transformation while reducing barriers to arts experiences for all.

What We Do

The Avenue Blackbox creates free or donation-based performing arts, multidisciplinary, literacy, educational and community engagement experiences for youth, emerging artists, families and patrons.

We are here to help transform Joseph Avenue and the 14621 neighborhood with arts and culture
while opening up pathways to careers in arts and technology.
