MISSION To joyfully celebrate children with special healthcare needs and enrich their lives by promoting each child’s individual health care, developmental, and psychosocial goals in an encouraging atmosphere of their peers; and to strengthen and support their families.

VISION Daystar’s pioneering work to support children coping with complex healthcare needs and developmental challenges is an innovative best practices model for replication; effectively bridging the gap from inpatient care until children successfully transition into school-based services.

Medical advances are helping more children survive life-threatening medical conditions than ever before. As New York’s only specialized Pediatric Complex Care and Learning Center for children with special health care needs, Daystar Kids empowers children with the skills and strength they need for a bright and happy future. Because we do more than just care for their complex physical and health care needs; our award-winning Pediatric Complex Care Center provides the expertise and specialized resources required to bridge the learning gaps caused by repeated hospitalization and medical treatments during the most important phase in their early development. Daystar Kids operates weekdays year-round (September – August) from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Qualifying children are stable enough for outpatient care and have ongoing health care needs that require nursing services and supervision, have complex medical diagnoses, and/or require medical devices to support their health (feeding tube, ostomy, oxygen, etc.).  Daystar Kids provides comprehensive services to help children learn, thrive and shine:

• Skilled pediatric nursing services and health care coordination with partners at Golisano Children’s Hospital
• Coordinated related therapies through Early Intervention and Preschool Special Services programs
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy
• Speech Therapy
• Special Education
• Music Therapy
• Social Work
• Family Support Services
• Inclusive group educational enrichment programs
